EPL Betting Preview

The Premier League season is already halfway across the finish line, but the action couldn't be higher at the moment. Check out Bodog's EPL Preview right here.

With more than half of the Premier League season behind us, the teams that can withstand the heat are cranking it up and rising above the rest. EPL betting at Bodog Casino is heating up right alongside them with live odds on all the contenders.

The picture wasn’t always this clear, though. The league The season kicked off with a sense of unpredictability. Rafael Benitez had just been appointed manager of Everton, Liverpool was making a postural recovery from the slump they’d fallen into last year, and Man United were promising solid performances with a solid team.

Fans and dedicated followers of the League were hoping – as we all do with every fresh season – to finally see ebbs and flows among the teams vying for the Premier League title, with the usual suspects proving to be tedious in their all-too-predictable dominance of the top spots. As a result, the underdog is a beloved species in the EPL – but who will rescue it?

Where Things Stand

Five weeks in, things were looking promising for those fans hopeful for a new trajectory. Chelsea were at the top of the table, tied on points with Liverpool and United with 13 apiece. Even Brighton had snuck in with 12 points, pushing Manchester City into fifth, with 10.

But, come Christmas, the Sky Blues returned to plant their flag at the top of the League tree, a position they’ve become accustomed to; then fast-forward to mid-January, and Everton and United have new managers and Liverpool has hunched up again, mostly returning us to the status quo of recent years.

So is it business as usual?

As we head into the final third of the 2021-22 EPL season, Bodog has the latest odds and the best analysis of where the season might go from here – for better or for worse.

Manchester City EPL Odds -1600

Manchester City have been the undisputed EPL champions for half a decade now. The club has won four of the last seven Premier League titles and finished runner up in two of the three seasons it didn’t win. On top of that, the Cityzens have secured the FA Cup once, the league cup three times, and the Community Shield twice since 2018.

In England, at least, Pep Guardiola can do no wrong. His squad continues to struggle to capture the elusive UEFA Champions League trophy, but they don’t need much consolation given that they’ve now got about as much silverware as the Queen.

After a little stumble at the start of the season, Man City had amassed a double-digit lead in the points by mid-January, plus they’ve won every game since the start of November. It’s no wonder they are back at the top of the EPL table with odds of -1600 at Bodog.

Liverpool EPL Odds +1000

Under Jürgen Klopp, Liverpool have enjoyed more success than at any other time in the Premier League era. The German’s energy, strategic squad building, and tactics on the pitch have all come together to make the reds the biggest threat to City’s hegemony.

This quality management has played a huge part in making Liverpool the second favourites for EPL betting. Their second-place standing is an improvement since the beginning of the season. They’ve managed to improve their form from what we saw last year, except for a post-New Year blip that caused the Kopites to drop a few points. They’ll need to get back on track if they want to regain the title.

Bodog’s odds for Liverpool to regain the title this year are currently +1000, which could be very attractive if you think the reds can pull it out of the bag in their upcoming games.

Chelsea EPL Odds +10000

Chelsea last won the Premier League in 2014-15, but they’ve struggled to replicate that success in recent years. Thomas Tuchel, who joined the West London club back in January 2021, showed he meant business from day one by achieving a string of 13 undefeated games from the day he took charge.

Things looked promising before the start of the 2021-22 season, and early games seemed to justify positive predictions. Beating Crystal Palace, Chelsea, and Aston Villa, while holding Liverpool to a draw despite being a man down helped to perk up the hopes of Blues fans.

Chelsea are up there with Liverpool as a strong contender, but they need to close up the gap to City soon to stay in the race. This is reflected in Bodog’s current EPL odds of +10000 for the London side to regain the crown, but like Liverpool, a good run of form in the coming weeks could make this a tasty option.

Let's jump into Bodog's analysis of where the 2021-22 EPL season might go to from here.

Manchester Utd EPL Odds +35000

The Red Devils were a force to be reckoned with in the 1990s and 2000s under Sir Alex Ferguson. The Scot’s squad would have even the biggest teams quivering at just the thought of sharing a pitch with them back then.

More recently, Man United ended last season on a high, climbing to second place, 12 points adrift from their neighbours. But after a string of early defeats this year, including an embarrassing 4-1 loss to Watford, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was relieved of his managing duties.

Under their new boss, Ralf Rangnick, United have only lost one game in eight. Bodog’s current odds of +35000 for the club reflect the fact that they still have a place at the top five in the table. But we’ve seen The Reds climb up rapidly in previous seasons and there are signs they could manage it again this year.

EPL Relegation Betting

Unlike most leagues in North America, the English Premier League offers jeopardy at both ends of the table. The bottom three teams will be ejected from the competition and relegated to the lower-tier Championship competition for next season.

Bodog’s odds for EPL relegations show Norwich as the most likely to be demoted at -200. With 21 games played, the club has only won three, picking up just 13 points. Burnley and Newcastle have smaller tallies, but they both have games in hand.

Despite being bought and sold earlier this season, Newcastle are fighting for survival with odds of +700. Though Bodog sees Burnley (+400) and Watford (+500) as being more likely to be shown the door.
