Which Characters Will Appear In Loki Season Two?

Follow the rollercoaster ride through the Multiverse as Loki seeks the truth held by the Time Keepers.

The twisted and intensely complicated world of Loki has been confirmed for a second season, and dedicated fans will have the opportunity to see our favourite anti-hero bring order to the Time Variance Authority (TVA) in an ever-expanding Marvel Multiverse.

Our time heist escapee, Loki himself, was hurled into his own Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) series, the third of its kind, as a direct continuation of the film Avengers: Endgame (which returned investors an eightfold ROI, thank you very much), and it’s hard to believe that the Disney+ masthead first aired in June of 2021, and, a mere six episodes later on July 14, wrapped it up and left us wanting more. The next chapter is expected to air some time in 2023.

Here’s the gist of the story so far.

A refreshed Loki (Tom Hiddleston) is Thor’s trickster adopted brother, and the main protagonist who navigates the Multiverse in search of the mysterious TVA Time-Keepers. In his pursuit of the truth, Loki pairs up with a villain – a variant of himself in female form – named Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino). The newest odd couple will go head-to-head with the leader of the TVA, called He Who Remains (played by Jonathan Majors).

The sixth and final episode of the season ends as Sylvie kills He Who Remains, sending the Multiverse into chaos as multiple dimensions bleed into one another, leaving us with the burning question: where to from here? And who will help us get there?

Which Characters Will Feature: The Betting

In the true form of the MCU, characters from other parts of the universe often appear as a cameo within films. Loki has a long and complicated history that connects to countless characters, which provides fertile ground for the speculative masses. Hence, the conversation around which Marvel character will make an appearance in Loki’s second season is buzzing.

We’ve got a few ideas.

Dr. Strange (EVEN)

First up, the Marvel character we’ve got our keenest eye on for a season two appearance is Dr. Stephen Strange. Dr. Strange’s own feature length film, the fabulously titled Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is hitting screens as we speak, with a May 6th premiere. The film’s premise is that Dr. Strange, satisfyingly played by Benedict Cumberbatch, must fix the chaos in the Multiverse as an internal battle rages on – is he a surgeon or a sorcerer? If you’ve been paying extra close attention, you’ll see it’s directly related to what we’ve seen in Loki Season One.

Aside from the obvious connections with the upcoming film, Dr. Strange himself is one of the most powerful heroes in the Marvel Universe, and he is one of the few who is even aware there is a Multiverse in the first place.

It only makes sense that Dr. Strange would appear in Loki Season Two to help the anti-hero find his way and restore order to the Multiverse. On the other hand, having an A-grade actor like Benedict Cumberbatch appear, even as a cameo, could be an overhead that hits the bottom line a little too hard.

Regardless, Bodog’s EVEN odds say that the good folk at Marvel are ready to cough up.

Ant-Man (+250)

Marvel Universe hero, Ant-Man, has a useful superpower if not a glamorous one. He can shrink himself to the size of an ant and enter the Quantum Realm’s subatomic level.

Loki’s plotline, throughout the season, forged the connection in the viewer’s mind between the Quantum Realm of Ant-Man’s adventures and the Multiverse.

Ant-Man’s new movie, Quantumania, has a release date in February of 2023. The movie’s villain Kang The Conqueror (also played by Jonathan Majors), who is an alternate timeline variant of the character He Who Remains from the Loki series.

This implies that Ant Man will have to deal with similar predicaments to Loki, which makes them more likely to cross paths in Loki Season Two, and one of the second favourites at Bodog with odds of +250.

Lady Sif (+250)

Lady Sif is a fierce warrior in the Marvel universe who grew up alongside Thor and Loki. She’s also tied with Ant-Man as the second favourite character to appear in Loki Season Two.

Lady Sif is vital to the Asgardian side of the Marvel universe, and we’ve already caught a glimpse of her as a memory in Loki’s head while Loki was in prison. So, since the role has been cast, even if it was a flash-in-the-pan appearance, actress Jamie Alexander could easily reprise her role as Lady Sif in the second season.

Additionally, almost every other character from the Thor movies has gone to the great Marvel Box Office in the sky, save for Lady Sif. It’s high time she reunited with either Loki or Thor in the wake of events from Thor: Ragnarok from 2017. It may be the case that a reunion is due in the next TVA adventure.

Valkyrie (+250)

When it comes to characters that Loki has a relationship with, it’s only Valkyrie that truly understands our anti-hero, and she’s tied with the other second-favourites at Bodog odds of +250.

Loki and Valkyrie went on a grand adventure together in Thor: Ragnarok, and Valkyrie saw Loki redeem himself when he finally acted selflessly for the sake of his people and his brother. Of all the powerful people in Loki’s life, Valkyrie is the one who recognises his goodness; she’s also one of few in the universe likely to lend him a hand in his efforts to save the Multiverse.

Then again, Valkyrie is busy on Earth ruling over New Asgard, so she may not have the time to swoop into Loki’s new multiversal adventure.

Wong (+250)

Wong is Dr. Strange’s mentor and friend, and the current Sorcerer Supreme. If Dr. Strange appears, there’s always a good chance Wong would appear with him. Then again, he may be less likely to appear simply because Dr. Strange is a bigger character in real world fame; and he is the more powerful of the two, and therefore the most able to save the Multiverse.

On the cynical side, if any of the two characters are going to cameo, Wong might be a more likely choice. In A Tale of Two Benedicts, Wong is a much more, shall we say, affordable actor when compared with even a brief appearance of Cumberbatch. But in the Marvel world of budgets, who’s really counting?

You could ponder that one all day, but Bodog has done it for you: odds are +250 that Wong will bring the goods and help Loki restore the order of the Multiverse.
