Thor: Love & Thunder – Bodog’s Odds
The Marvel Cinematic Universe is the gift that keeps on giving, and the next installment is scheduled to drop in a matter of days. Just as we’ve seen with all of the other recent releases from the studio, Marvel betting is expected to be in huge demand as we get closer to opening night.
Thor: Love & Thunder will be the 29th MCU movie. In the film, Thor is on a personal quest for inner peace, but Gorr the God Butcher interrupts his solitude, and Thor must help end the galactic killer’s evil plan to bring extinction to the gods.
Set in the events after Avengers: Endgame, Thor: Love & Thunder is a direct sequel to the 2017 movie Thor: Ragnarok, and will see Chris Hemsworth return as the hero. The film will also feature Jane Foster as Mighty Thor, Christian Bale as Gorr the God Butcher, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, and Natalie Portman as Jane Foster.
Thor reviews are also yet to be released, and they are expected two days before the film will be available in cinemas on July 7th. That gives moviegoers another week to make their predictions about what they expect to see in this latest blockbuster.
Here at Bodog, we have three main markets for Thor fans to test their knowledge of the franchise ahead of the launch.
How Many Planets Will Thor Visit?
In previous Thor films, we’ve seen our hammer-wielding hero pay a visit to multiple planets. Collectively known as the Nine Realms, the planets (in addition to Earth) that Thor has spent most of his time are:
They were all featured in the comics but, so far, only eight have appeared in Marvel movies. We can, therefore, expect Marvel to plug the gap of the final missing planet, but that is unlikely to be the only stop for Thor as he chases Gorr the God Butcher. It’s likely that Earth and Asgard will also feature too, but beyond that, it’s still up in the air.
Right now, here are the current Bodog odds for how many planets Thor will visit:
- Four (+170)
- Five (+170)
- Six or more (+200)
- Three (+275)
- Two (+1800)
- One (+2500)
How Many Times Will Groot Say ‘I Am Groot’?
Groot is a popular character among Marvel fans. First created back in 1960, this sentient tree creature has the ability to control all plant life, directing them to attack his enemies. We’ve also seen him absorb wood and sprout leaves and branches at speed and on command, a move that can inhibit his enemies.
Over the years, Groot has been given a voice by two actors, the first being Krystian Godlewski. Since then, Vin Diesel has taken up the role, depicting him as a baby, a teen, and an adult.
The work of being the voice actor for Groot isn’t the most taxing of jobs though. This hedge hero is only capable of saying one thing – “I am Groot”.
Of course, with some added inflections, Groot is able to convey some messages to those around him, but it is somewhat difficult for them to understand.
The catchphrase has become a meme and has found its way into the Marvel betting markets for Thor: Love & Thunder. In this instance, your challenge is to predict how many times Groot will drop his famous three words during the movie.
As things stand, here are the current betting odds for this Marvel betting market.
- Six (+EVEN)
- Five (+225)
- Four (+500)
- Three (+500)
- Two (+1500)
- One (+2500)
Will Any Of These Characters Appear In Thor?
We know the main characters that will be appearing in Thor: Love & Thunder, but King Valkyrie, Korg and Jane Foster won’t be the only ones we see. Others from previous Thor movies and comics, as well as some crossovers from other parts of the Marvel Cinematic Universe could also make an appearance.
Darcey Lewis (+125)
Darcey Lewis studied political science at Culver University before becoming an assistant to Jane Foster. The pair have appeared in several Thor productions, including Thor: The Dark World, Avengers: Endgame, and WandaVision, and have spent much of their time trying to understand Thor and the worlds he inhabits.
With Foster appearing in the film, there’s a good chance we’ll see Lewis make a return too, and Marvel betting odds of +125 say that she will.
Professor Selvig (+250)
Portrayed by Stellan Skarsgård, Professor Selvig is the teacher of both Jane Foster and Darcy Lewis. He has appeared in Thor, The Avengers, Thor Dark World, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Avengers: Endgame, and Spider-Man: Far From Home.
With a background in astrophysics, he’s had several run-ins with Thor as he, Foster, and Lewis have all searched for answers about his world. Like Lewis, Selvig’s connections to Foster mean he’s got good odds of +250 to appear in the latest Thor movie.
Hulk is a character that needs little introduction. This giant green superhero has been featured in comics, movies, and other media since 1962.
Hulk and Thor have recently appeared in a crossover called Hulk vs Thor: Banner of War, but this wasn’t the first time we’ve seen these two together. The pair also featured in the 2011 “Fear Itself” comic, as well as several Avengers productions.
Nothing has been confirmed about Hulk’s appearance, but in a 2019 interview with BuzzFeed, Jeff Goldblum said that he was in discussions about it, which gives Hulk odds of +275.
Lady Loki (+450)
At +450, Lady Loki’s odds of appearing in the new Thor movie aren’t as short as Darcey Lewis, but there’s still a strong possibility due to her partner’s connections to Thor. However, she only recently made her first appearance on screen in the second episode of the Disney+ show Loki, so there are still some question marks over whether she could be promoted to a movie.
Marvel betting on the new Thor: Love & Thunder movie is a great opportunity to test your knowledge of the franchise. Be sure to get your slips in ahead of the film’s release in the next few days, so you can lock in the highest payout when the moment arrives on July 7th.
